Where is Sloane Square in London?

Connecting Belgravia to the northeast, Kensington to the northwest, and Chelsea to the south and southwest, Sloane Square sits just west of Westminster and south of Hyde Park, under ten minutes away from the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben on the London Underground.

What is the appeal of staying in Sloane Square?

One of London’s most distinguished areas, Sloane Square is home to some of the city’s most upmarket retail stores and restaurants. Filled with Georgian buildings, it has a very attractive and sophisticated look.

Around this area you will also find Royal Brompton Hospital and Chelsea & Westminster Hospital. Not to mention that some of London’s main attractions are under ten minutes away on the Tube, including Big Ben and the Houses of Parliament, Buckingham Palace, the museum district in Kensington and the Saatchi Gallery.

Things to do in Sloane Square

Sloane Square is a fashion lover’s paradise. Head north on Sloane Street to shop at major fashion houses such as Giorgio Armani, Hermes and Prada. Head west on King’s Road for designer fashion as well as unique boutiques and independent high-end stores.

Just off Sloane Square itself you will find The Royal Court Theatre and Cadogan Hall, the latter home to the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. Duke of York Square is just a few minutes’ walk away from Sloane Square Tube station, offering a fine choice of boutiques and restaurants. And high-end department store Peter Jones dominates the western side of the square. The Saatchi Gallery is also not far away, sitting just behind Duke of York Square.

Towards the end of King’s Road as well as on the parallel Fulham Road, interior design lovers can shop for stunning antiques or the latest contemporary furnishings. And in May, horticulture fans can join the Royal Family in visiting the famous Chelsea Flower Show.

Places to eat in Sloane Square

The areas around Sloane Square are famous for fine dining and entertaining famous figures, including the Royal Family.

On the King’s Road you will find celebrity hotspot restaurants The Ivy Chelsea Garden and Blue Bird Chelsea. A little further south, the tripple Michelin star celebrity chef’s brainchild Restaurant Gordon Ramsay.  Into Belgravia you will come across more of London’s Michelin star restaurants, including Marcus and Amaya.

But if fine and formal isn’t quite what you are looking for, there are many smaller cafes and restaurants dotted around King’s Road that will certainly tick the box. Duke of York Square also boasts a good selection of restaurants, and Chelsea Farmers Market comes to town every Saturday, from May to October, offering tasty high-quality food and fresh produce.

And for days when you don’t feel like going out to eat or just want to take it easy, why not browse the Farmers Market and cook a relaxed meal in your very own serviced apartment kitchen?
